How Bad is This?

Numbers matching, found under the floor boards of an old house,
nice Durofol hand guard and original sling attached to the front band,
but sadly missing the stock.

A lot of slop in the original gas system, and sadly discovered the rear bolt
carrier is cracked. I think this may have been previously repaired? I took
some high resolution photos to post here, you can see the cracks, on the inside
I assume that's original welding? The reinforcement looks really rough!

A few photos of the damage, click on any of them for super high resolution. You can then zoom in and really see the damage.

I am not seeing a photo of the Bolt carrier. I see the bolt cover (sometimes called action cover) That is an easy fix. The split on the bottom is normal. Looks like you might have the start of a crack on the top hole. Easy to tack weld and hand file. Overall thats not bad.

This gentleman can fix the damage and you can obtain a shooter's kit if you intend to shoot it: http://apfeltor.com/

The missing stock, I don't have any good ideas. The cracks are common, the rifles were way over gassed, bit it's fixable and definitely worth time and expense. Good Luck!

Resto Work:

Although I have never used him, I've heard good things about apfeltor. He also makes and sells the shooters kit, don't get them off ebay.

On his site he has several pages of before and after pictures of his restoration work.

First Page: https://apfeltor.com/html_pages/restoration/sightbase2/hobnailspage1.html

and the one with repairs to the bolt housing with issues like yours:

RIFLE STOCK:

Stocks by Fox Military are your best bet. He's in Poland and it takes a few weeks to get the stock, however, Les does excellent work.

Here are the G/K43 stocks he makes and sells.

STOCK PARTS:

I don't know what parts you have and don't have but your best bet is Darrin Weaver's site:

** Last I heard he was on deployment because of the virus, and wasn't returning emails.

Almost missed it. Above the serial info on the left side there is a 'VoPo X' not to be confused with a Russian Captured X - but very similar. Just means it was likely refurbished and used post war in East Germany.

I had to do a double take as there are few bring back G/K43's in Canada that are not VoPo examples.

Thanks for all the info guys.

I have reached out to apfeltor and have a gas kit on order plus some other goodies. Have an order made with the fellow who makes stocks, but have not heard back yet.
As well, I have a cross bolt for the stock ordered and a cleaning rod from another company. So its coming together.

Need to find a butt plate for it now... not easy to find.

Some better photos of those stamps.

And a #4 on the right side (not sure what thats for)

And the bottom side stamps

Those markings do not indicate a VoPo rifle...interesting?

How did you find and/or come across it?

Warning the stock guy was backed up 6 months on G43 stocks and usually it takes about a week to hear back from him. He does do the best reproduction stocks.

I agree with you on the markings.
I have been in touch with Leszek from Fox Military and we have a stock on order.
He did indicate 6 months. We wait for Christmas :)

He has butt plates as well.

Yea I need to get a stock from him as well for my duffel cut AC45 C-Block, I'll never find an original stock in the loose, especially with that lovely late stock chatter. Will have to wait 6 months, sigh.
