Here’s a late Mauser large logo KKW, no D.F. It has a sintered iron front band and the original unmarked .22 muzzle cover. The front sight is cut for a hood but it is clear that one was never installed. I have noticed that many late Mauser KKW’s have walnut stocks that needed significant repairs in the form of wooden plugs to cover flaws in the wood. I wonder if these were previously rejected K98 stock blanks used late in the war for KKW’s? This is an unbelievably accurate rifle with a match grade trigger.
