Repro Sniper receiver Code ID

Hi,

I was wondering if there was a way to find the receiver codes out for these 2 Repro Snipers?

The first bead blasted finish sniper has serial number 18 bb. Considering someone went through the trouble to put the number 18 on the low turret scope rings and a waffenampt then I am curious if they added anything else on this rifle? This rifle is completely matching but some of the numbers do like oddly big to me, which makes me think it was messed with. Also, this rifle has a new trigger in it, I believe.

The second Rifle has the serial number 4480 g and is also completely matching. This rifle has one of those “sniper” butt plates but must’ve been just added on. I am curious if anyone would know the receiver Code for this rifle?

Both Rifles were obtained fairly cheap and are both great shooters.

Thanks!

I think that all the numbers on the first rifle have been added post war. Maybe the barrel is original but I don't like the others. Rifle has been completely refinished. This makes it difficult to let you know who made the rifle original. Can you post pictures of the right side or the receiver and the barrel markings? Not a bad looking shooter, but no collector value there.

The second rifle is also a complete put together. The mounts are not anything the German's did. The butt plate is a reproduction checkered butt plate. Again, good looking shooter. Hope this helps.

Hard to see, but looks like the Turret Repro is a WaA655 which means it was a early Oberndorf make. So the receiver would have had a 42 on it followed by whatever year. (Though everything is in question with possible forged stamp numerals??)

If you can find a WaA code on the objective claw mount sniper, that'd be the best way to determine.

Hello,

The 18BB started out as a recycled Mauser Banner receiver for the BYF41 run of rifles. your other is a BCD 43 rifle.

later
Vaughn
