Semi Auto MG3

..going to a gunsmith tomorrow and have him help me.

Do not let him try to get you to sell it to him or have him tell you some other nonsense. It certainly appears it's semi modded. How good or how well it'll run not sure yet

I think you need to hit the split pin with a punch and after that pin is out the trigger pack will rotate down and back out. Sometimes you can just hit them straight but often you have to hit either of these edges. The pin type is not uncommon.

I don’t believe it’s a wise-lite. If there’s a way 2 tell let me know and I’ll take a look. I’ll also get you those trigger pics,I’m thinking About going to a gunsmith tomorrow and have him help me. Not sure what I’m doing wrong and 1.5 hours later...time to get some help.

LOL. That happens now and then.

If it was built by Wise-Lite, it would be marked prominently somewhere on the receiver. If it's not marked, it's for sure a home build. Of course, Wise Lite also sells just a receiver and it's marked too so it can be hard, or even almost impossible, to tell what you are looking at, a home build or a Wise Lite build. It gets real complicated real quick!!

+1. If gunsmith dude knows what he's looking at and feels that you don't, he'll try to dry ram you. Don't let that happen.

The main problem with these semi conversions (MG42, MG34, RPD, etc.) that does keep them from selling for really large sums of money is what heavy mech pointed out...….many do not work reliably so that hurts the value of all, even ones that do work right. Still, if the rifle was well built, reliable or not, it's worth a decent amount of money. Reliability problems can usually be addressed if one knows what he is doing so long as it was not bubba'd together.

No doubt. Multiple receiver shell makers of varying quality. True home builds out of metal. Multiple trigger pack makers. Unfinished blank shells. Ready for drop it finished shells or even complete populated ready to install.

My HMG CETME L looks crude too. In fact, the front sight base wobbles without the front handguard in place. BUT it's reliable and accurate and that's what matters in the end!

I am by far no expert, but I assume you made sure it is barrelled and chambered for 7.62x51 as it looks like many parts came from the Yugo M-59, which was 8mm.

It's a home build. The BRP gen 2 bolt is the most reliable semi bolt out there. looks like whoever did the work marked it with an electro pencil or some other engraving tool. He marked it as "7.92". Have you fired this gun?

I have, once a few years ago, very fun

quick update for you patient gentlemen, its currently at the shop. These guys are good so I trust them with this, they are going to take it apart, clean it, test for functionality, and take the pics you requested. You'll probably hear from me again next week with said pictures.

Matt
