I just got a bolt mismatch 1938 Erma from my local gun store. Said he had a husband and wife come in and it was a matter of divorce if he didn't sell it. Everything I have found matches except for the bolt. Even the stock and hand guard. It is in really good shape i believe. It is also marked L on the stock. It is not import marked or duffle cut, and none of the stamps are pinged. Serial number 8757f.

Congratulations and welcome to the K98 world! So far it looks like a great rifle. When you can, please take and post some more pictures of all the serial numbered and proofed metal and wood parts. This way you can get some really good knowledge and information from the fellow collectors here. Congratulations again and we look forward to seeing more of your new k98.

Welcome! I'd call that a great start. My first wasn't so sexy. I bought an RC ce42 and caught the bug bad. That bug expanded to collecting everything from Dreyse Needle Rifles to late WW2 weapons. Beware, German stuff has a way of becoming habit forming!

Great first rifle!! Matched to the screws! My first 'good one' was also a 27 code AND a bolt MM as yours is. Erma finish quality was very high IMHO. Congrats!
