Gunsmith Pickup: CZ27 and FN10/22

Picked up two of my hunting rifles where I had the local gunsmith thread the muzzle for a silencer when asking him on handguns. Since I know him well he sent me out to dig through boxes of items which he doesn't care of. Among them were a stone mint CZ27 (where the original owner didn't want to pay for checking that he told the gunsmith to do, so he gave it to him for free) and a FN10/22 that I mainly picked for coming with the original hoster, despite of some rust pittings. They weren't expensive, hence I had to take both.

I've been told the 10/22 is Luftwaffe contracted, mainly based on the holster (that still carries the FN marke second mag). Is this correct?

Digitally removed the last three serial number digits of both guns, if someone was wondering...

Oops, forgot to mention: also took a Frommer Stop in 7.65mm with me (that came in a post WWII Austrian Police holster for the 37M pistol). The Frommer STop is post WWI made - never seen that markings on the left side of the frame before. Anyone an idea on what they mean? I was told maybe Czech, but how/why could Czech get a post WWI made Hungarian pistol? Again last three digits digitally removed.

Nice example of a CZ27. Looks like the mid-war transitional variation between the early high polish and later all-phosphate finish. How is it marked on top of the slide?

Maybe you had missed it - the slide top of the CZ27 is shown in the third picture in the first post.

Oops, sorry. I was interested in the serial number and slide markings. I have two CZ27s, one early (SN 291XX and one very late (456XXX). The early one is marked like yours. The late all-phosphate one only has the SN and Waffenamt on the top of the slide and is marked fnh on the left side of the slide.

This variation is one of the least produced and has a few sub variations. It has the serial number on the top of the slide only, the frame appears phosphate and the slide is blued. It started at 200,000 (there are always flyers). Eventually the serial number starts showing up on the right side of the slide. I cannot recall when, maybe in the 261,000? Shortly after that fnh will start showing up on the left side of the slide and the Böhmische Waffenfabrik A.G. IN Prag will disappear from the top right around 274,500. There really hasn't been enough research, but the best I've located is this: https://luger.gunboards.com/showthread.php?30133-Mid-1943-CZ27s-%96-An-Interesting-Surprise Eventually they all are phosphate right around 400,000 (again there are flyers).

As I had mentioned, the last three digits of the serial have been digitally removed. So this pistols serial is 240.XXX.

I also have a left side slide marked "fnh Pistole Modell 27 Kal. 7,65" sample with only the 403.XXX serial on top of the slide (as well as on right side of frame), but that one isn't as nice as the particular one that I opened the thread for. Plus I have a third one which is German WWII made, but post WWII used by Bulgarian Secret Service equipped with a silencer. I hand picked the silencer one from the dealer and decided to go with a German made one, since there were various available. They all had the grips replaced.

phillynick, thanks for the information and the link! Seems this pistol is full of variations as well.

Went there again to pick up the Astra 300 Wehrmacht that I made an offer upon when visiting last time, took it home with me. And as you can guess, I had bought something else as well. Aside of the 37M that I've opened another post I also found a nice Mauser 1910 pistol in 6.35mm that has additional Austrian firing proof from 1912 with the more expensive plastic grips.

The Astra 300 is quite nice, looks near mint. It even comes with holster and second spare mag. Only bad thing is the belt loop at the back is loose on bottom. But didn't buy it for the holster anyway. The owner cared well for it.

Having to pull up my own thread - is this correct?

Based off honest assumptions and actual examples. Yes most all 1922 and p37ung. pistols seem to end up with the Luftwaffe with Drop rig holsters for flight personnel.

No luft. proofs show up and any as far as I know. Far fewer army type holsters show up.. I have seen a brown flap type and a late war black pebbled flap type.

mauser99, so based on the markings one can not assume this is an actually Luftwaffe issued pistol, but simply most likely since the 10/22 saw often usage by the Luftwaffe?
