went in to buy a .243 for a Fox thats been having his way with my birds , and there sat a K98 slayer , further inspection its a 1936 JPS S/147 ,bolt and parts all match , sight slide ,floor plate and trig guard match but have a serial struck out restamp (how common?) , follower matches , no handguard or bands , no import marks , bore doesnt look like its been cleaned but for a dirty bore looks good , with dark lans

how rare of a rifle is something like this , i know its pre war and not many survived , the couple parts that had stamped out serials and matching serial then stamped doesnt make me happy , but i can see where that might have been done on a rifle that lived through the entire war (am i wrong?) , typical deer slayer stock , cheesy cheek rest , no handguard ,modernized butt
