Hi guys,
I received this scope from a friend of mine. He told me its a ww2 german k98 scope. Can you guys maybe help me out a little bit with information about this scope?

Thanks!

Hello sir, your scope is not a military scope that was used on a K98k. It is a common commercial scope. Nice scope though, and would be great for a shooter build. Hope this helps.

I will agree with dat !!!!!!!!:biggrin1:

Alright, thanks guys!
I guess that it’s not a military scope makes sense because the strange flat-tipped reticle in the scope. It is not a sharp point as in the common k98 scopes.
Maybe if I can find a good mount for it I will fit it to my k98!

I recently bought one just like this. I plan on using it for a CE43 K98 that I put a LSR scope and mount on. The scope I was using was a Chinese repro Zeiss ZF39 that looked good, but was so out of focus it was unusable. The more rounds I shot with the Chinese scope, the worse it got.

The reticle is not the issue thats typical of WWII . The markings and serial range is how one determines its a Post War civilian scope .

unfortunately the mount is drilled in the tube just over the serialnumber. Can't check it!
Does anyone know if it is possible to remove this claw mounts and filling the empty holes in the scope with anything? (soldering? really no idea).
I think it is very hard to find a matching base mount for this scope so thats why I am thinking of removing it and using it with a (repro) high turret mount.

Buddy gave me a near exact scope - same maker same profile. It's 4x with serial 55324. Has it's leather belt case. Only thing done to it sadly is someone cut off the front mounting where it meets the ring on the base. And the rear ring is there with a loop for screw windage but the rest of it that would attach to the receiver base is AWOL. Think I am going to look into mounting it on a 22 or something like it. Needs a good internal & external cleaning as well. Center focus works fin and typical three post reticle with pointed middle. Is this worth the endeavor ?.

The leather case right above the buckle which gets covered when lid is shite has a "crossed rifles looking" (?) - AKAH underneath. I assume this is at least 1930 's vintage case ?.
