It is good you took better pictures, still difficult to tell a "story", though these at least can outline the rifle in general terms... the barrel is a re-barrel, when is a little difficult, but it is easy to identify the barrel and the period installed by an examination of the rear sight components and barrel markings. It may be my wishful nature, but it almost looks like an eagle fireproof in on the barrel next to the serial? If not then the barrel is pre-1924, possibly WWI, if the FP is Simson's style it is probably a Cassel/Kassel re-barrel, but the rear sight might tell us something else,- it is probably not period to the re-barrel but it possible it will give some further clues. The stock is obviously a more recent addition, but still serviceable for most purposes.

If you want some further "speculation", take the rifle out of the stock, photograph all barrel markings, possibly in front of the rearsight, but more common near the receiver. The RS could date the upgrade or at least give some idea of a range. (if mismatched it will help little)
