some pics of my Radom P35 and im hopin that some of ya here can put in your .02
Its an all matching gun with the original magazine. ( and obviously no grips). bore is VG.
finish is thinning a bit and a few areas of corrosion on the slide.
1. Looking and the finish machine work the serial number in the K block
I figure its mfg. is about late 43 or early 44 but I hope someone here can give me more information.
2. Its been Missin the correct grips so I figure I need to hunt some down. I have 3 grip screws need one more of those too.
I believe the grips should be VIS marked black bakelite but i'm not 100% sure. I have seen some VIS 35's with wooden grips but those are usually 2 lever guns and im not sure if they were correct or not.
3. Has slots for a lanyard loop, but not sure if its missing For this date of mfg pistol
or it was intentionally left off during production. My thought is it’s missing.
Hi Steve,
* Here are my thoughts on your questions:
(1) Any born on date is really only a guess. Wartime conditions, inconsistent labor and material, changing priorities....you get the picture. My guess for your VIS's assembly date is Feb., 1943 give or take a month.
(2) Black, small screw grips would be correct for your 3 lever, "K" block. Are all four escusions still screwed into the frame holes?
(3) Yes, the lanyard ring is missing.
* Here is my 1/L9980 for comparison. I estimate it to be a 4/43 (+/- a month) made example.
There might be a guy whom has the grips you need. That is Paul Milbury @ Military Historical Arms & Antiques (Globe, Az.). You can do a Goog search for contact into. He should also be at the Bi-annual Larry Stewart militaria show this Saturday in Mesa:
