Muzzle cover

I picked up this unmarked muzzle cover recently. Is it possible to identify the manufacturer? It fits my Mauser DSM 36.

Some are blank. I'm mot sure if we'll ever know who made them but Muser or a smaller firm who specifically made stampings is my guess.

The blank versions could have been made for "replacement" or for the smaller firms who didn't have their logos applied to the lid.

Mauser, Walther, BSW, JGA, possibly ERMA ? Those are the only ones coming to mind who had logos applied.

I thought the bottom of the cap might help identify it. This one has the diagonal crosshatching. I have see a picture of a marked Mauser with square crosshatching and a Walther with parallel cuts. Most of the pictures I have been able to find don’t show the bottom of the cap.

That’s very nice. I’m guessing mine isn’t for my Mauser. It seems to be a decent fit but looks like it is tipped slightly on the barrel. Yours looks like it has perfect alignment.

Thank you, Is the spring loaded washer down in the cup free to compress on yours? If it’s not, it could hold the cover out some when attached. I’m looking at the difference in gap between the cover and the sight band of yours and mine.

The muzzle cover surely fits your mauser but isn't the one it came with.. But, a fine second place.

The spring seems to work fine. It feels like a nice slip fit going on. Once I release pressure and the spring pushes it out there is a little play in it. If I push up or down on the end it stays there. Using my cheapy composite digital caliper it measures 15.8mm l.D. The rifle barrel measures 15.3 or 15.4mm O.D. It fits my Simson/BSW 625B the same way.

The spring is quite strong. The pressure it applies to the back of the front sight seems to keep it out of perfect alignment.

Thank you gentlemen for your comments!
