Date of manufacture

How can you determine the year of manufacture if it is not stamped on the ring? For example, a pre-war S/27?

All regular production K98ks have a date on the receiver.
The first two years letter codes were used.
1934 coded K
1935 coded G
After that the numeric year was stamped.

Depot assembled rifles probably will not have a date and
In the early 40s Mauser used some leftover Banner receivers that
Were not dated

Here is a blank receiver with no manufacturer or date. Only serial number, WaA 359, and what seems to be a depot marking.

Neat depot build. Can we get clearer pictures of the depot stamps on the barrel and receiver?

I had posted this some time ago. I believe it was actually my first post in the forum lol. But the stamps are both the same, one on the barrel and one on the receiver. Barrel is a 0,2 marked spare.

It at least couldn't have been made any earlier than the barrel date. If they put a new Armorers stock with a cupped buttplate and front sight base cut for a hood those features will help you dial in a time frame for assembly.
