That 68588 looks like a fake, and probably why it is the wrong type for the serial range.

very well could be.. Take a repro strip the blue, burry it in the back yard for a year and stamp a number on it and make some cash on the un-edumakted public.

I believe mrfarb is 100% correct... look at the locking lever, this is the same as the repro's that show up on FleaBay. It is knurled all the way around and does not taper correctly toward the end. Looks like a back yard accumounts piece to me.

BTW, the rear windage adjustment screw on 93137 is boooooogus....

I don't own a sniper k98 and I have handled very few over the years. Therefore, I really know next to nothing about them. I noticed that most all of the sniper rifles listed under this thread were either bcd 4 or bcd 45. Can anyone tell me if there were any bcd 43 side rail sniper rifles?

There were no bcd 43 LSR rifles. There were CE 43 dated LSR rifles.

So, were there unnumbered scope mounts that are original WWII? I thought they all had to be numbered?

Yes, there are un-numbered original mounts out there. I've got one stuck away with a BEK scope that a member kindly sold me a couple or years back for a resto project. Tough to find...
