Hambone:
Beautiful rifle!! And the condition is nearly mint!
Thanks for posting and pics.
Bob

The closest I can come is a matching pair of original condittion e/280 bands (with the narrow sling bar), serial 7790.

So, unless the narrow sling bar rolled over into s/27 1936 production, they are from a G date Erma. Somebody is bound to need them...

I've seen this rifle- it even has the original matching cleaning rod! Thanks for pics Ham.

Gorgeous rifle, how rare are these 98's with the RFV or other Government type stampings, I have plenty of pistols with these markings but not rifles.

Wonderful rifle Craig!

They are uncommon, but RFV is far more common than DRP marked "Kar98k" which also exist.

Most RFV marked 98k recorded are 1934 S&S (the most w/6 rifles), 1935 ERMA and 1936 MO rifles.

Tks Paul. I've seen very very few DRP K98ks as opposed to the RFV. Seems like a pretty good portion of the low S/27.G production went to the RFV.

Mauser, that's the upside to walnut. The downside is it's soft and shows dings and prangs more too.

Wow very impressive HB. You're one of VERY few people who can say they have a matching S27G, heck even any S27G at all!

Bigd, tks, but oddly in the last 6 mos, some have turned up, including this one. What I understand was one nicer than this at auction, another, maybe the same auction rifle, purportedly refinished at a show, BiO posted his mm bolt example, and a couple RCs. Before this, in my life, I had known of a handful, and never seen a matching one in hand. Simson keeps track of them and can better tell of the observations of them.

13 are known or have some data on, plus a few more with only serials known (reported), of the 13 that I have files on 8 are rc's, and all but one of the "original" ERMA/35 are RFV marked. This is PeterS rifle which in the datasheet doesn't mention the RFV so I assume it isn't one?

All we know of Peter's rifle is 3 pics, and a KCN datasheet.

Regarding RFV vs DRP "Kar98k", only a couple DRP Kar98k are known (by me) but about a dozen RFV's between the 3 maker/dates. Of course this is only very limited observations (need a lot more data!)

What is interesting to me about the RFV guns is the numbers- you would think the 1934 date guns would have lower numbers, but from what i have seen some of the lower number RFV guns are 1936 Mauser? Is this typical of what you have seen?

Almost make me want to start collecting these Romanian Imports myself .
Mike aint this what You are collecting Now . JUST KIDDING !!!!!! Hambone
Awesome Rifle I really do like these early Rifles so much but can never seem
to be able to keep one for very long someone always talks me out of them .

Mike has that effect on people Dave... some kind of Texan hypnosis :)

Superb rifle Boner.

Hard to say as I have two reports, but what you say is correct for one- JoeV has the other rifle and he doesn't say what RFVxxxx it is?

You can fly the "hope & change" bullshit airliner through the hole of what we do not know regarding RFV marked rifles?
