Default Most interesting German modified Yugo 24

I saw this rifle and figured I'd post some pix. I'd say this rifle is quite a bit more scarce than a vz24 conversion..Im kinda curious why it doesnt have a depot mark..The lower swivel was left in place. The lower band conversion is one i've never seen.. Thoughts ?

Photos removed out of respect of all parties involved and those who will be involved !

now that the auction is over I will repost the photos of this hard to find rifle.. It sold for 2500.00 bucks..or there abouts..

What's the policy on discussing ongoing auctions?

Saw it and thought, so much of what this guy offers is misrepresented crap. You just do not know, and can not know, if it's good or???????

If you guys want, I can post pics of my German capture/modified Yugoslav Model 1924. It's in my hands, and not an auction. Hambone has seen the pics of this one.

By the rules we allow posting photos from an auction for discussion, but usually I wait until the auction ends (if the rifle is good) as it prevents what is happening in this thread, which is turning it into an auction discussion. We may have to revisit that rule in light of that? The auction link was posted on WW2Weapons forum already, so lots of people have seen it now.

Pat, do post pics of your example, but start a new thread. It will be a great discussion.

    Roger that.

I might not be able to until Sunday; I've been up since 1700 Friday and won't get to lay down until tonight...

I've got a dremel cutting wheel and a file that is about the same width as that bandspring. It wouldn't take me long to notch a K98k band to fit. Is that band numbered to the rifle? Also, I do believe that the postwar Yugo Mausers are all cut for a side sling arrangement and utilized K98k bands. It seems to me more logical that the alteration was done postwar to a prewar yugo M.24. Look:

So, we know this is a German mod as opposed to a postwar Yugo mod, consistent with Yugo M.48s, etc., how?

Well, the notched band is E/B proofed which is a known variation. I'm not sure if the police numbered the bands or not.

The notched band is well known - it's shown in the last 2 editions of Mauser Military Rifles of the World. All you have to do is ask John Wall for more photos - he will likely agree. The modification to quasi-K98 standard was DURING the war. And post-war, the Yugoslavs did NOT cut the sling slots for the M24 and M24/47 ala K98 and the M48's. A Yugo 24/47 with a sling notched stock is in an M48 stock.

I have a BT3 made/marked M1924 long bayonet, muzzle ring removed. Seeing the Yugoslavs kept muzzle rings on their rifles, we can pretty much rest assured it is German modified.
