My grandfathers bayonet brought me here trying to figure out where it came from. I now know what gun it was for and where it was made and when. Very cool! Now I have to figure out how an Norwegian Resistance Fighter who fled POW, went to England, then Canada, joined RCAF and somehow got their hands on a german bayonet.
Thanks for sharing table, anyway i assume Slash is correct, no S code for 1936 is to this time reported on S84/98, but maybe we will found any in future, the WuK production didnt use the hidden secret code date for years 1927-30.
The source is myself. Personal research and serial number observations compiled in spreadsheets over the last 30+ years. AND leaning heavily upon member @AndyB and his data collection which in my opinion is the most authoritative (especially for the period 1934 - '43).
Member Unutt has a very large and almost complete S84/98 III collection of every year and every maker. He has made a nice reference grid listing each bayonet in his collection. You can tap on the green boxes in the grid to pull up what bayonet(s) he has for that year and maker. Then click on bayonet listed in blue to see pics of that bayonet. In the past, Unnutt had a link to his collection that was at the bottom of his posts. It is no longer there. I have kept the link through the years even when it was nonactive because he reactivates it occasionally. The link is good right now. Check it out while you can. No telling how long it will be good. I hope I have not violated any rules or laws posting this link. If so, Mod remove it.
