    Default 147 1940 'm' block

A nice combat vet 147 '40 from the 'm' block. All matching down to the screws except for the cleaning rod. Rod is numbered 40. Blue is in really nice shape for a Sauer. The stock is very worn, but I don't think it was ever sanded. There is some white residue in the area between the handguard and the stock, and some in the edges of the stock disc and recoil lug. Old whitewash, maybe? There is also a lot of really old (and hardened) grease in the bolt internals.

Barrel code is 'S 7 40 D S' E/37x2. Both 'S's are in a script font, and there is an odd rhomboid shape in front of the first S. Stock date is Na 2 16 40.

Very nice. That Sauer high polish blue is great when it is intact.

I agree, - and it is a case study on how to image a rifle. High quality pictures with every important aspect shown clearly.

Very nice rifle, especially for this maker-date.

Beautiful rifle. I have a matching Ď40 Sauer myself, although the stock has been lightly sanded. Iíll have to do a comparison (to make sure mine isnít humped) and this rifle makes a great reference. Thanks for sharing!
