Hey i have on layaway and k98 from a local gun store, it has the mauser banner on it, and a gear looking emblem stamped on the side of the reciever but NO serial number, or date of when it was made. it has a straight bolt in it, but u can tell its not original and is made to have a bent bolt. upon measuring, inspecting and looking at everything on this rifle top to bottom, it has got to be a K98, but no serial number or date on it? K98 - Chinese contract

Chinese contract assembled by Mauser with over 100,000 shipped from 1936 to 1938.

Its not really what youre looking for. Its probably top dollar for a Chaing Kai Shek(sp) but not too horribly bad of a deal. It really has a bit of history to it and doesnt look to be in too bad of shape. I would find a peened romanian capture with sewer pipe to reenact with. Or a yugo K98k.
