reworked WWI sawback-SA auxillary police?

I recently picked up this reworked WWI sawback bayonet. Note how the scabbard was stripped and painted black except for the tip to resemble a police scabbard. Blade was period nickel plated. Scabbard and blade matching numbers. The back of the frog is stamped: H.T.S.A 2 Komp./I. Back of frog also stamped L B A (manufacturer)?
My guess is SA auxillary police...comments welcome!

Very interesting and correct (of course) about the translation of the frog marking. It is a shortened Sg14 isn't it?

Any idea how H.T.S.A 2 Komp./I relates to the Luftwaffe? Why would they use a sawback blade?
I bought it to sell but I may hang on to it for now.

I would suggest that the frog is not original to the bayonet. The bayonet is an excellent piece and I would suspect that it is a Police modified Sg14 sidearm from the Weimar period. The frog appears to be the standard pattern for the Sg84/98III from the Third Reich. I do not know the meaning of the H.T.S.A. 2 Komp./I unit marking but as stated above LBA (Luftwaffe Bekleidungsamt) is a common property marking for Luftwaffe items. A nice bayonet and a nice unit marked frog but in this case they probably just don't belong together. My thoughts only ......

I agree....

It makes sense that these are two non-related items that someone stuck together. The guy I got this from had a habit of sticking things together...like the PPK I got from him that was stored in a P-38 type holster. The bottom of the holster was filled with cotton balls so that the PPK would fit in it! See gun and holster (minus cotton balls) in the Axis pistol section.
Thanks for the input on the bayonet, I will add it to my SS/Police sword collection.
