Default Study of JP Sauer Rifles (1938-1940,1941 & 1942X2)

I collect JP Sauer rifles but do not have many as they do not come up for sale very often. This year has been different and all the rifles Iíve found/kept this year are all JP Sauer except a Kar98a and an ar 44. I will present these rifles separately as time allows, but will start with a study of major changes from 1938 to 1942. I have an example for each year except 1939. These are the rifles in the study (top to bottom):

147 1938 3429 F: all matching except upper band (was missing at purchase). Has tape with veteranís name on it.

147 1940 5633 B: all matching. Stock section missing by bolt

    CE 41 823 M: all matching

    CE 42 7654 C: all matching

    CE 42 9853 O: all matching

    Default Stock Right Side

These are the markings from the right side of the stock. The 147 1938 is well-struck--most Sauers are not as you can see by the 147 1940.

    Default Stock Keel Markings

These are the markings on the keel. It was clear they dropped serial numbers off the keel sometime between the "C" and "O" blocks.

    Default Stock grip markings

This is an interesting section as it goes from multiple markings down to none.
