    Default G29/40

I took some pictures of my fathers G29/40. I posted some pictures a while ago, but these are a little better. Just got bored I guess. The stock even has the date pencil marked into it. The firing pin is not numbered and bolt does not head space check, because of the imperfections in the receiver????. Also, it appears the floor plate is renumbered.

Nice photos, thanks for posting. I never noticed the rivet on the side of the extractor spring, good to know. I don't think I have ever seen a receiver with that many stamps and marks below the wood line, I think you must have the record.

Thanks, we have had this rifle for a couple of years. Does anyone have idea of it's current value? I have considered selling it, because of the issues.

    Default G29

The receiver is damaged. Also the floorplate has been welded and renumbered (check the font and weld). I think the rest of the parts are ok. So, in the interest of sparing someone else the aggravation of this I thought I would point these issues out. Always check head spacing. I am thinking of getting the receiver rechambered/fixed (I guess you always got to figure someone might try to shoot it). Any suggestions or references for a gunsmith to fix this would be appreciated. I also need an unumbered floor plate. This rifle came from a dealer claiming to be an expert with authentic items. Either he is dishonest, made a mistake, or he truly does not know anything about 98Ks. Of course he does not want this back. Integrity is the only thing a man keeps for himself, because fortune is fleeting.
