G-41 Highest known duv serial number

Please note: Since this thread was started, another, higher numbered duv 43 has been discovered. See post # 17 in this thread.
Thanks for posting your rifle, Terrill

For the viewing pleasure of our members, here are pictures of G-41, duv 43, SN 6496h. Per Claus Espeholt, this is the highest G-41 serial number recorded. This rifle was in my collection for many years and now resides in an advanced collection in Texas. With the kind permission of the current owner, he is allowing me to share these pictures. Hopefully, this can, in some small way, serve as a reference point showing what a completely original, textbook G-41 looks like. Lots of pictures - Enjoy...

Nice!

Another beauty!
Did yours have the letter h in the stock cut out also? I haven't taken mine out of the stock yet but I may next week and do some additional pictures.

John, I don't remember the stock being numbered internally, but it's been a few years since I sold it. I would think that if it were internally numbered, I would have taken pictures of it. Love to see more of yours when time permits...

i dont know where you guys come up with this stuff, but WOW. Any one of us would be prouder than hell to own that one

Mine has a letter h and waa214 in the sling cut out, did yours?

Seeing those photos takes me back 30 years to the old Bagnell Dam Show. That was where we saw Cherries like that here in central flyover back in the day. Thanks for sharing.

Sorry John, I misunderstood your question. I don't remember anything in the sling cut out. I do know that the present owner is following this thread. Perhaps he will decide to chime in.

I remember those days and hearing about how great the Bagnell Dam show was. From Indiana it was just a bit too far to drive for me. Back in the day, they were all good shows - no chocolates, no survival gear - just guns and military relics...

Thanks

Great rifle... great pics. I hope these are getting stickied. I know this is a 98k site but after 35 bnz 45's it is nice to see this rare stuff come out.:hail:

Denny, thanks for posting that is nothing short of spectacular. I have been searching for a long time for a AC with the scope base type receiver or an early push button variant. This one would look sweet next to my matching late walnut 1942 stocked G41(m) :) oh well I can dream!!!

From the SOS - It is my understanding that a higher serial number has been uncovered. Sorry I don't have the number but was told it is still in the "6xxx h" block.

Actually, there was one at the SOS that is quite a bit higher in serial number range. I have a habit of writting down all SNs of G41s and G/K43s that I come across or observe. At the SOS, there was a G41 duv 43 reciever only that had pitting and was sandblasted into the "white". The rear sight assembly had been removed and parts being sold separately in the same condition-"sandblasted into the white". SN is 3620i. This is into a whole new block than previously observed. Did anyone else see this sandblasted reciever?

g41 numbers .........

hey;;... i purchased this rifle from a gun shop in lexington, ky. in very nice shape and looks good in my collection. i was at the sos, and i think i saw that " i " rifle receiver. ...??? anyway;....
