HZa rework of Yugo M.24 carbine. Stock and triggerguard came from one rifle, were renumbered to match second rifle and parts. Refinished during rework. Mint bore. Mz (Mainz depot) but unlike my other Mz repair, it does not appear to have a number after the Mz. Old dried grease in bolt, firing pin in white numbered to rifle.

Well, at that price I don't know how much of a "grab" it was ;) However, the seller is a great guy, a collector like us, and I'm happy he got that for it. I was happy to pay him this and needed this variant. It's in exceptional shape. Win win.

Added pics, numbered handguard. The stock and triggerguard were cannibalized at Mz 8 depot and renumbered to the rifle in the assembly which is pretty cool. Also pics of the bayonet, German Imperial Gew.98 reworked by the Serbs for the M1924, then captured by the Germans, ring removed, for their use:

I don't know why, but I really like the Yugo M24 rifles. This one is cool!

Stock and triggerguard came from one rifle, were renumbered to match second rifle and parts. Refinished during rework. Mint bore.Mz (Mainz depot) but unlike my other Mz repair, it does not appear to have a number after the Mz.

I can see the number in the original auction photo. Its the typical 6 or 8. Right next to the dent. Cannibalization seems to be the rule with repairs on Yugo rifles (all of which seem to come out of Mainz) with the minor exception of the police modified M1924s. Nice one!

Tks guys. Ryan, I thought typical Mz.8 too, but when I looked at it it looked like more space between the z and where the number should be. That pic that you turned and enlarged shows it much better than I saw. Thanks.

Good job, Hambone! I'm glad a member got that one, its a very nice representative of the species, and looks great. Congrats, and enjoy!

RyanE,
Actually, I have one that is 'Jt 20' (Ingolstadt) marked, not Mainz. It's marked in the same manner as Hambone's but modified a bit more. Mrfarb's right, the pre-war Yugoslav rifles have an appeal all their own!
Best,
Pat

Pass by no more

For years at gun shows I have been too lazy to pick these Yugo's up and look....I will now.

A fun rifle for us veterans who have seen them all.

Is the "circled H2" considered a German marking? I have seen it on other reworked rifles.

I don't believe it a Yugo inspect. DF do you have pics of it on other German reworks?

Here's an unmodified one, pics from gunbroker.

I don't have a picture, but I have an M95M with the Eagle Mz8 and circled H 1 marking, also have one with the Mz8 and no "H" marking. Also Danish Krags reported with Mz8 and either circled H1 or H2. It appears this marking might be associated with the Mz8 depot.

That's good info David. I trust your observations, but any pics are nice for reference.

German rebuilt Danish Krag wrist markings.
