Thanks Denny. Ghost remnants of S/42 1936 can be seen on the receiver.

THAT IS A STUNNING STANDARD MODEL , I really like the detail of the workmanship in these early Rifles .What Pic can the remnants of S/42 1936 be seen Hambone . I looked but eyes maybe getting bad or the glare of that Quality Finish maybe masking it . Nice Catch Ham. Best Regards

Thank you. Denny said it was the nicest he had ever seen, and it is the nicest I have seen as well. Unfired looking with handling knocks. The quality is quite nice. Most 30s era weapons from major makers are like art work. Dave, it's hard to capture that ghost S/42 but it's there when you catch it in the right light. They simply buffed K98k receivers and utilized them in Standard Modell contract production.

Very nice rifle.. Quite surprized Bruce didnt hop on this one.. Denny had some of the nicest rifles at the sos-pad.. I got there late so most of them were gone..

Bruce has SMs in the same shape but he told me if it had certain inspections it wouldn't have made it to me and I would have gladly let him have it. :happy0180:

Glad to see it has gone to a good home, Craig. This is the first time it has changed hands since 1971.
Dave, I will be very surprised if Craig can get the 1936 date to show in a picture. I was never able to do so. It's very faint but definately there.

Thanks Denny, a beautiful rifle as you described. It's got a good home and in 40 years if I'm around, God willing, it will pass to someone else to care for. :happy0180:

Nice Standard Modell Craig, Empire comes up with some really nice rifles but the challenging part is being online when Dennis sends out his email. Rifles like your are gone in minutes.

Thanks fellas. Happy to say I got two outstanding rifles from Denny before he passed. He was a fine fellow. Someone here will get them at some point too. :happy0180:
