I have had this rifle for over 20 years and it came with capture papers from a TD batallion.
The gun has been updated to the side sling configuration with cutout added, bottom sling
swivel removed and capped, and the rear band is K98 type. Also, the front band parade hook has been ground off.

Also for you wood junkies, gotta love the burled walnut.

Very nice! Mine is only about 20 thousand earlier, no German mods however.JH

VERY nice Bruce! SM's are my absolute favourite rifles - they have no coamparable bretheren (OK, DRP's etc come close)

Are rods originally white on SM's? Mine appears to have never been blued either, and the rest of the rifle has minimal blue wear.

Hey Jim - nice looking rig. More pics?

If its not too much trouble, could use the barrel code on that gun and also if its military accepted (E/63 stamped).

Bruce, I don't have a sheet on this rifle so I don't have the barrel code at hand. I will try to get time to take it down this weekend. JH

Also, mine is narrow lower band, cross pin upper band, so likely was export.
