Have that sope with mount for almost 30 years. Well hidden in one of the drawers. ;-)
Thomas picked it up at a flea market.
The markings on the tube are from the gun smith who mounted it first on a hunting/sporting rifle. I do not know what company it was, because I never had it out of the mount.
"Donation" is a misleading expression. The hunters got their original rings back and were payed for the scope. For a suitable Hensoldt 4x scope the OKH (Army High Command) payed RM 125.

Wolf were the Hunters always Paid for the Scopes . It was my understanding that they could Donate the Scope. or The Hunter could get Paid for the Scope .Then the Removed Rings returned. Please Clarify so I know for certain , Best Regards

The hunters probably could donate their scopes, but in general it was intended to pay them for.
The Busch Company that inspected the scopes first, used a preprinted postcard to confirm the receipt of the scope. They only filled in the power, maker and compensation.
Still need to find one of Goerings letters where he asked his hunters to voluntary hand over the scopes.

yes a donation would be a "no dollar" transaction. Not sure what donation with compansation is actually called. The usa had a similar program during ww1 and 2 for people to donate optics . I saw an episode of antiques road show where a woman had a pair of he mothers binos that had been donated to the government then returned after the war. With all the documentaton. Maybe the germans promised the same thing but never won either war.

ADDED; here are examples of u.s. attempts to get people to loan binos to the navy.

"The payment of the handed in telescopic sights occurs accordingly to the prices settled by the Heeresabnahmestelle."
That is what my document says.
The Army bought scopes from hunters. I would call it an ordinary purchase.
They were talking about prices, not about something like a renting fee.

Stan, looks like you have use for a nice scope from the Jaegerspende.
Got a nearly new Kahles this week. But that is an expensive scope.

    Hello guys,
do you think that those two SSR mounts type 3 would be historically correct on that Mauser Banner ?
    Best regards
