    Default byf 42 "k" block

Well I recently picked up this super nice byf 42 k block. All matching and in pretty decent condition. I owe a huge thanks to my good friend CanadianAR for passing this along to me. He's a great guy and a true friend.

Everything is either e/135 or e/140 except the bolt sleeve lock which is e/18 and the extractor collar which is e/54. Lots of RW marked parts as well of course.

Also of interest is the "circle A" marked bayo lug.

Any and all comments appreciated as always!

The statements from others here about this K98 is also my opinion , It is a Very Impressive piece and would be a Great Addition to any Collectors Collection .It always amazes me when I see such and Old Rifle in this kind of Spectacular Condition. It has a bit of a used look to it but far from abused . Congratulations . Best Regards

Nice rifle! Very similar to mine.

The Circle A denotes the part was rejected (abgelehnt) during inspection. Usually rejected parts don't show up in production until later in 1944, so it is a bit odd to see one on a 42. Maybe they were just short of lugs that day?

It is very similar to yours. I mentioned the e/54 extractor collar on mine because I knew yours in the pic reference had it as well.

I was pretty surprised when I found the circle A bayo lug. Like you said, these rejected parts usually show up on later guns. It's a nice bonus though.

Thanks for the compliments guys and thanks for the pic sticky Hambone!

Exceptional gun, especially for a 42. It must have been spared the Eastern front. Maybe Sgt Shultz got it when he turned in his Kraig. Congratulations.
