Interesting sniper photo

I Like Bunnies
I don't know if this photo has been discussed before, but it is very interesting. The sniper appears to have built a skid with a camo shield and frame from tree branches. It looks like the whole thing sits on the ground, and serves as a rest and blind all in one. Pretty cool.

Looks like a bmj high turret.

Great picture. I have never seen this one. Dave has all the best pictures.

I agree, it looks like he has a bmj scope on a turret mount. Looks like he also has a pair of 6x30 binos.

Mind if I post a few more on this thread from the net? Not sure if they are all super commonly seen ones or not as I don’t haunt the sniper section.

He still looks pretty easy to spot.
If you are standing in the open area it surely looks like someone with two brooms in the hand, but someone camouflaged like this on the ground will be a tough job to spot...

I love the fact that it appears it is not only camouflage, but the thicker boughs seem to form something like a rifle rest/bipod at the front. He obviously did invest some time in it!

I'd be willing to bet the skid design is to facilitate sliding and creeping forward toward a target over a period of time, the enemy would only see the front of the blind as the sniper crept forward over hours of time to get a good position. That is a standard sniper tactic even today.

Like I said not sure if these are all super commonly known or what not but maybe there’s one or two that aren’t? Some came off alamy.de and other random findings from the net, none are mine. There’s an elm Oberndorf in here, only remember seeing the other common elm HT picture. Also the close up leaning over the tree is interesting, appears to have Cyrillic characters carved in it.

Dave, picture #7 says that is is a press picture. I therefore assume there are more of them in existance?

I especially like this one, looks like a WWI sniper scope:

Not to mention his cleaning rod is missing.

Perhaps to squeeze little more accuracy out of his shots?

It's a WWI Dr. W. Gerard, B3x scope.

I know were there is one of these LT with Dr. W Gerard B3x Scope Sets . The problem is the Rifle is a made up post war piece of shite LT and the owner wants Stupid Money for it . Would love to get the Scope & Rings but not for his asking price !!!! .

Wolfgang gave me my Copy of this Photo , It was a present on my very first visit to Germany and the Meyer Farm !!!!

6x30 bakelite binocular

Have a closer look at details of binocular. Sniper is wearing 6x30 bakelite binocular. I only know two pictures of German soldiers, where this type of binocular is visible, on both, unfortunately, only partially.
