I just acquired G 41 DUV 43 # 414h. All matching numbers and untouched stock. Vet bringback piece.
I believe #414 h was near the end of the G 41 production by BLM.

G41 DUV 43 additional photos

It took me a year to get this piece from the previous owner, who owns a local gunshop. This piece came into the shop about 10 years ago by the brother of the WW2 vet who brought it back. The vets family was afraid to shoot the gun as they were told the gas cone on the end of the barrel would explode and kill everyone! Nice condition inside and out.
Thanks to Chuck Poland for helping me take it apart and check the internals (all electro pencilled as it should be) and to Wayne (Mauser 99) for helping us get the bolt back together!!

nice !!

I got to see this one up close.. Pic's really dont do it justice. Late BLM product. 'h' block was the last block produced before switching to G43 production.. Nice un-dicked with rifle.
Well worth the wait... G41w's are one of my favorites..

John; it looks alot better with the bolt back together....:biggrin1:

I need a better camera and a light tent

..all I have to do is stop buying guns!!!:googlie thanks again for you help Wayne!
I also need a sight hood, anybody have one?

The bluing on that is stunning...nice and deep blue...I am glad it didn't walk in the door for $200 at Allentown...or I might have ended it all...:biggrin1:
I can smell that stock from here....untouched...

There are two ways to take down the bolt...Let me show you the better way next time.

Allentown show in February

I was looking for you at Allentown this weekend, did I miss you? I will bring it in February at our next Ag Hall show.

Didn't make show

That gives me another reason to come.

This should be stickied..we don't have many G-41 pics...

These pictures don't do it justice..

I will have to take some better quality pictures. Other than the missing sight hood and a few spatters of white paint drops on the butt, it's untouched.
The Ag Hall people let me use a private office at the show so we can inspect it without all of the gawkers.

Very nice John. You are correct about the "h" block being the end of BLM production. Evidently, not many "h" block guns survived as they're not often seen. I sold #6496h a few years ago. It was considered to be the highest known G41. Interestingly, it had a walnut stock. I would post pics, but this is your thread and about your "very nice" rifle.

Not alot of info available..

Darrin Weaver's excellent book "Hitler's Garands" only gives the M and W G41 about 40 pages. Any other information sources available?

As of now, no I don't think so. Weaver is working on a new multi-volume G41/43 set, and the 41 will apparently get a volume all to itself. It is very much warranted.

What was his sentence ? I encourage others who are interested to go to his site and access the cache from Dec. 3 as the link is dead now......

As of Dec. 4th, when I started this thread, http://claus.espeholt.dk/ was a working site. If memory serves, I think his legal difficulties took place nearly a year ago??? Now, as Jack said, the link is dead. Why now? Why not when he was sentenced to prison? As that Artie guy used to say, "verrry interesting!"

post script" A little further searching shows that he was arrested in May 2009 and has been serving his 3 year sentence since early 2010 which further begs the question "Why is the site being shut down now?" One would think this would have happened near the beginning of his sentence - not the end...
