Just snagged this thanks to a tip posted by Mowzerlover here on the forum. 101st Airborne Division capture rifle. Vet said he has not touched it since he brought it home. I have left it as is with band in wrong position.
Total mix/match....every part of the rear site is numbered different. All capture documents are originals.

Pretty cool gun in the "if it could talk world:

bnx 42 Viet-Nam capture

Nice looking rifle for a "Rice paddy Rifle".....excellent provenance too.
Tks,

Outstanding grab. Lots of provenance and picked up by a true American warrior. That rifle looks 10x better than the sellers pics. Really nice grouping and a rifle that has served many and STILL appears "range ready". Happy to have helped get it to a collector who appreciates it.

Absolutely great history. He was quite a hero. The silver star is quite an honor and getting to E9 CSM is about as hard as making Brig. Gen. as an officer.

Nice rifle in "7.62" too. Gotta love those documents. Outstanding.

The way they were referring to the 101st Airborne division by this time is also interesting. Sadly they were transitioning to Air Mobile and other descriptions by this time after such a great history as an Airborne Division. Plans were to have only the 82nd as a fully Airborne division.

Outstanding Jack. Well done. That K98k is covered with history. The paperwork is killer. Pic stickied.

Bore

I took the bolt out and looked down the bore and expected to see a sewer pipe....was amazed the bore was actually in good shape !
Put some CLP down the bore to keep it that way.
