I recently bought this bayonet off of eBay. When I got here I took off the handles and I noticed the number under the handles does not match the serial number. Does anyone know what's up with this? I'm really hoping I did not get duped.

7574 should be assembly number of locking nut and possible grips and flashguard. The scabbard was cleaned from rust, when there is blueing so it was reblued postwar.b.r.Andy

I see a 7574 on the pommel, the pommel nut has a waffenamt stamp on it. nothing on the flashguard the grips have waff stamp as well. I would agree the scabbard is reblued do you think the whole bayonet is?

I dont known, is hard to make a clear opinion from the pictures, You should compare it on sun light, most probably on handle is new blueing? as there are some rust areas, possible the blade blueing is ok or was only renewed on a good surface, look at touching inner spring areas on blade, when reblued so all the blade was reblued.b.r.Andy
