Here’s one that’s been seen here before. I captured some good photos today and I’d like to share.
For those who haven’t seen it, this is a 1943 JPS built on a receiver sub-contracted by Walther. Nothing special, you see these often. What is unique about this rifle is that somewhere along the line it sustained stock damage enough to warrant a (likely) field replacement. I suspect that the incident that broke the original stock also broke the original safety. Both were replaced with armorer Walther manufactured spares. The hand guard is matching.
With all the Walther parts they may as well of put a Walther banner on the receiver…
I'm not sure about the cleaning rod, it has always eluded me to what origin it is, I hope this can be answered. I don’t believe it to be original. Also of note is the Erma sub-contracted rear sight assembly and what looks to be a Steyr manufactured bayonet lug.
In any case it seems to be a rifle that was carried… quite a bit. Nearly in the white finish above the wood line and in stark contrast a rich blue remains below.
