Loewe thank you for the history lesson. Great information. I would love to have the information you do. Especially the conversations with John Wall and others.

Thanks, - John Wall was a great man, but Craig Brown was more an interwar man, - that man was phenomenal in his ability to connect the loose threads of history into an argument... Jon Speed is remarkable also, he has been sharing some incredible insight recently. He is about the last of the greats around, his understanding of the history, economics and the firms (history, relationships & activity) is mind boggling at times, even with my wide breadth of reading it can be difficult to keep up with these men, who came from an era where "higher learning" (university) actually meant something.

I honestly don't know much about Craig Brown, but he sounds like another of the greats. My friend and Finnish Bayonet research partner Thomas Heinz (goes by 7x57) collaborated with Jon Speed helping to translate documents. Thomas' has spent much time himself researching Brazilian Mausers.

Yes, I have heard good things about Thomas Heinz, Jon speaks well of him and his research. He translated many of the documents Jon Speed gave me to place on Gunboards-Mauser. Which I can tell everyone is not an easy task, especially a clear translation, - while many Germans understand English, it is still a challenge to translate with all the subtleties of the two languages.

Craig Brown went by the handle WaPrüf2 on several forums, he was one of the foremost collectors and researchers in the hobby, with a wide range of knowledge, 1840-1945, with few peers. He was one of the few interwar specialists that had no peers.

I have seen those documents. I thank all of you for the work put into them and the sharing of them.

Thomas is a really good guy. He is currently helping me to acquire Mausers and other rifles in Germany that you just do not find here. He is then going to help me import them here by handling the export end there. I posted the 1908 Uruguay Mauser on the forum.
