BCD 4 Bolt Not Working

Hi,

I have had a BCD 4 K98 that is a tad beat up, but the reciever is in good shape. I just aquired a K98K bolt (all matching) to use in this rifle as it did not have any bolt. When I put the K98 bolt into the rifle, it gets about 80% of the way there, but just gets entirely stuck. I have three other K98 bolts thats I have on my other K98s and all three did the same thing on this rifle. I went ahead and used CLP to clean the entire bolt track, but that did not help at all. Not really sure what it could be at this point.

Thank you,
Nick

Did you recently disassemble the bolt? Did you put it back together right? Specifically, is the bolt cocked for re-insertion?

That's about how far in a bolt will go if it's de-cocked. Unscrew the bolt shroud, remove the firing pin/cocking piece assembly, use the takedown disk in the stock to depress the firing pin far enough that you can engage the safety to hold it there.

Screw the bolt shroud/FP assembly back into the bolt body and, if this was the issue, you should be good to go. Take the safety off once it's in the gun and it will work as normal.

Going to take apart the bolt here shortly, this bolt works fine in my other K98's. It's just weird that 3 different bolts that work 100% fine in all of my K98's but none of them work in the BCD one.

If three known good bolts don’t work, and the new bolt goes into the known good guns, the receiver must have a flaw. Bent maybe.

Hi everyone! Ended up figuring out the issue. The rear guard screw broke, and somehow that screw ended up coming up way to high, so the bolts would get stuck on the screw. After taking it apart, removing the broken screw and adding a new screw, it now closes perfectly. I was to concerned about everything else that I didn't look at the obvious. Thank you for everyones help!
