All, I got this Dou 44 EE block a couple months ago for $1200, rifle is all matching however looks like someone at some point installed a sight and grinded the receiver. However otherwise the rifle is matching and has no issues. How did I do?

It appears that you have a K43 sling on your rifle -judging from to location of the buckle with that much slack in the sling.
Take it off and measure it. If it’s about 55” long it’s for a K43. If it is, clean it up and put it away. They are rare and hard to find.

The receiver bridge looks like it was ground flat on top. Is that real or is it the lighting? If real, can you tell me why - scope clearance maybe? Any body know?

I got this rifle like that, it appears someone tried to drill for a sight on the rifle, and grinded the receiver unfortunately. I’ll measure the sling today

It might also be a postwar sling for the Austrian Stg 58. They were being sold by some vendors as "WW2 K98k" slings. About 55" long as well..... https://www.libertytreecollectors.com/productcart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=9870

Sling is 55” on the dot, and has this marking
