Pulled this image off the web (GI) and thought this was really interesting.
In one rifle you get all three district markings!

Jory the one you are getting is similar to the middle one.

That’s awesome, a true passed abound rifle think of all the places it’s been. Love how they didn’t replace the buttplate just stamped out the former unit. Unit markings are one of the many reasons I love trainers—seems many more unit or organization marked trainers than k98s—you know exactly where the rifle was and whom used it.
 
butt plates at this point are still hand fitted and ser #'d to the rifle.. XX' ing out unit marks goes WAAAAy back.. plenty of room for more as well. I cant ever recall seeing a rifle with even one never mind six ! She was really tossed around.
 
Started off in district 15, then transferred to district 13, then off to Saarbrucken.
District 15 was Koln.

Bz.15.285 is weapon number 285 (could be rifle, pistol, or bayonet).
