After years of hunting, I snagged a 98/02. This one was made by Erfurt and accepted in 1902. This is definitely a grail-level piece for me, especially since it’s marked to the XIX ArmeeKorps.
Auction photos looked a little rough, but I think the gamble paid off. After sone Ballistol and bronze wool it looks worlds better. The major detraction is the staining on the blade, looks like it was put in the scabbard while wet, but otherwise it’s pretty nice. The scabbard unfortunately isn’t marked, and is missing the throat, but it’s solid.
