Story goes

Hi! I recently acquired this rifle by my aunt. Story goes that my uncle's father brought this home with him from the war. My question, does this rifle show anything to validate that? Any help would be much appreciated! Thank You!

The rifle you posted does not validate any story, unless you possibly received the paperwork that was in the possession of your ancestor when and if the rifle was listed as a war trophy by him.
Nice rifle, either way.

Unfortunately with no paperwork it's just a story. Not saying the story is not true but when you sell some like this people want proof.

Other than that it's a nice rifle and you should be very happy with it.

Looks to me like the bad part of the final acceptance is punched out with one hit from a 3/16" or so pin punch. If so that would make it even harder to justify. That technique was used by at least one country that acquired these after the war although I haven't been able to verify exactly which one/ones as of yet. Eastern European or Balkan I believe.

Is the firing proof punched out similarly?

Still a nice rifle as others have stated! Enjoy.
