Other than the wanky chrome and the polished stock is this thing legit?

Nice looking rifle although it is a little suspect. Does it have any value at all? Not looking for a super-collectible just lookin for a good shooter that has some history behind it.

Been a while since I've participated here due to personal reasons so I am not up to date on posts to live auctions. With that qualifier this is indeed a heavily refinished g. 33/40. Pretty commonly encountered 945, 1940. The lumber might match internally but it really wouldn't matter as the sanding and varnish crap is severe. On a par with what was done to an rc type 98k; reblued, sanded and mismatched. It is what the seller described. No real value as a collectible but it could be converted to a nice sporter. My opinion would be to be patient and wait for something better.
