Waffen SS with Mosin Beutewaffen

Both of the SVTs in the photo have the very rare SVT40 sling. Most SVTs photographed have Mosin, submachinegun, or field made slings.

Definitely a neat pic. It's part of a sequence from the 'SS-Kriegsberichter' site (via NARA archives), and includes the well known pic of the WSS soldier firing an SVT-40 in the same line as another with a GP-35.

Very cool picture. As Ryan said it is a Top mount with a PE scope. Check out how he removed the front sight hood. Interesting? It seems like the Germans liked to camo the front half of their rifles. Here is another with a PU that has camo in the same fashion. Thanks for sharing.

That's just good fieldcraft, and what a competent operator does.

I read a Soviet primary source (Klavdia Kalugina's memoir from 'I Remember,' I think) in which she described how Soviet snipers used burlap to wrap their rifles to break up the outline and kill the glare off of metal and other reflective components.
