DRP Trainers from Mauser...

Bob in OHIO

Senior Member
Here are three DRP trainers I like.

Interesting there were marked in different locations/fonts
SN 39.969 = walnut & "Lzg"
SN 42.703 = elm & "Ftm"
SN 43.004 = elm & 'Eft"

Speed's sn study has these DSM34s were made in late '37 or 1938.
Seems like 8mm DRP are earlier than this (see links below)

Any more contribution on the DRP or thoughts on the city for "Ftm" is appreciated!

From what I was told via Bob Simson was there are two distinct serial ranges. The range this one is in follows youres . You must have been busy,I see. I like the additions !!!

Here is mine, just to keep with the flow of the thread. Mine has the big DRP roundel like the big boys.

This one is a little later 45k range..

IMO, these DSMs provide a layer of information that is pretty interesting.
The connection to the DRP, why the elm wood... (shortage of walnut presumed).
How many different cities are out there?
If these are 37/'38 made, did they also mark K98s in the same era?

You must have been busy,I see. I like the additions !!!

Actually have had two for some time and the recent third prompted the thread...

Parts numbering on DRP DSM

Unless I missed it you fellows make no mention of the bands or other parts not normally numbered being numbered on your examples. I have observed two that had both bands, triggerguard, and buttplate serial numbered.

Are any of these, if so which parts?

Bob,

Is it possible that "Ftm" is actually "Ffm" which could be Frankfurt am Main.

Mine is serial 43001

Jim, mine is not numbered any different either. I found one more on g.b. I have the pic's saved. It has no extra numbers either. It could be like the Banner Reichspost rifles where some armourers deemed it nesisary to number the external parts.. Not the norm.
