Hello guys, I’ve got a k98k or a G29/40 with the WZ crossed out. Then it has 1979 stamped in a few places. Would the 1979 be when it was imported to Canada? I really don’t know what I have on my hands, I’ve been googling and have learned some. Very Much appreciate any information and maybe a value?

Hoping this is where I am supposed to post this!
Thanks Andy

The G29/40 were essentially wz29 rifles assembled from captured Polish parts, most going to the Navy. Yours has a desire able Polish marked receiver.

The 1979d is the SN. From the font on your stock SN, this rifle was reworked in Bulgaria and likely exported from there.

Can you post some pics of your barrel? Looks like it was reworked at a depot at some point.

Hey, here are 2 more pics, let me know if there is a specific place you want to see. Too funny, I was confused that it had a manufacturer number 1939 and thought maybe they made it in 1979 based on that model or import date.. hah.

Got the chance to call a few Dealers around me. The first guy knew what I was talking about and in good shape told me the gun could be worth 2k Canadian to a collector. For them to purchase it he thought around 1300.

The other dealer I do not believe he knew as much about these guns, told me it could be worth 200 to 800....

Is 1300 a fair price if we were to sell it if it’s in top shape?

Are you in Canada?
Great looking rifle!
In the US we have an auction website: Gun broker,
where I think you would get more then $1300.00 US for it. -
Good Luck!

Collectively it's known as the 'barrel code'. 40 is the year, bys is the factory code for Ruhrstahl-Witten who supplied the blank. The next three are acceptance stamps for certain machining processes. That's who finished the barrel. We know it was made as a spare by the offset 0.2 on the shank indicating how much it's short chambered to allow final fitting on installation. The final chamber dimension would be stamped on top at 12 o'clock.

Gorgeous rifle! I am not sure how the pricing in Canada will work out, but here in the US, you can likely get well over $2k for it, despite the stock looking refinished and the weird looking bolt handle. It is a desirable receiver.

Don't want it as a family keepsake? If you're looking to sell I'd go on cgn or gunpost, save yourself the dealer taking 700 from the price. You might have trouble selling at such a high price as a new account though. I could always ask as a middleman if needed. I'm on both sites, same user, with 100% trader rep (mostly on cgn).
