Hi
A dealer is selling a WW1 Gew 98 training rifle. It is the same type of training rifle in the new book by Stotz on page 264 and 265. It has a cleaning rod ,sling all the bands on her.
He wants $595.00 for her. It it worth that much or what.
Best Regards
Bob

They are pretty uncommon over here, I suspect not too many wanted one to bring back or import.. if you have an interest in one, the price sounds reasonable to me, though I have never seen one sell before.

Wolfgang (Amberg) is the best guy for these things, he and another German collector had a discussion on them a year or two back. Might look through the old threads and they might illuminate the topic for you some?

Gew 98 trainer

Hello
I thank you for your help. This is the first one I have seen except in the Gew Book. It would be a big help if anyone could bring up the old articles on the WW1 German trainer rifles.
Best Regards
Bob

The so called training/fencing/marching out (Ausmarschgewehr) rifles are pretty hard to find.
If one shows up over here, it usually does not sell for big money, because almost no collector is interested in such things.
Depending on condition, I'd probably buy it. The sling itselfe is worth ...... ?

Have three different Gew.98 and two DSM/KKW style training rifles, but do not know much about them.
