100th Anniversary Commemorative 1898 Gewehrs

In my research and web surfing, I understand the Mauser company issued 100 1898 100th Anniversary Edition Gewehrs. Just out of curiosity, did anyone on this forum get one of these rare/new Gewehrs?

The rifles were expensive and I do not think legal to import into the US back then, so no one bought any here, - though few would want one... from what I understand, the rifles are all refurbished parts (recycled Gewehr98 parts), with only a new barrel. Some said the quality wasn't up to what collectors generally expect of Mauser Oberndorf either.

I assumed import regs would likely nix US sales. Its a shame the quality wasn't up to snuff.
