CZ 24 Bayonet

Looking more in depth at a cz 24 bayonet I purchased awhile ago. Bayonet blade is bright, circle z proofed at throat and serialed on pommel, "RR 11983". Scabbard appears black painted, with old rust where it has been chipped. Frog retainer is marked "E5" "81" the usual "CSZ" then lion proofed and dated 37. It then has a four digit serial number electro penciled on it. My question did the Germans serial and or rework the CZ bayonets for general issue? Well aware of the use of elctro pencil on the german reworked CZ 24's. This electro pencil is very similar to the CZ 24 rifle reworks.

Thanks, Jeff

I am aware of some having stamped serial numbers (probably added at the unit level), but I've never seen EP numbers on original examples. I'm not saying it didn't happen. With the "RR" prefix, it would appear that the bayonet is from the Romanian contract, so I would assume your bayonet is a post-war rework, perhaps Romanian.

Without pictures is hard to determine, but i believe Ryan is correct, its a romanian contract bayonet, probably postwar reserialed, the scabbard should have a new paint too.

Some photos of the bayonet

The bayonet is a romanian late contract, probably post 1941 done by Zbrojovka Brno plant, the scabbard is a czechoslovak army contract in 1937, made by slovakian plant of ZB - Povazska Bystrica, later send to Romania and later reblued and reserialed with elektropencil. The frog is yugoslavian for M24 or M48 bayonet.
