FG42 Typ 1 BFA???

Greetings one and all.. I've put nearly 200 rounds through my Gorgeous FG... Once the warranty expires, reenacting will be next. I'll be employing it often (don't tell my STG44) and now that the flu seasons all but over, events are returning. I'm currently developing a simple and more complex BFA for it. Anyone else also in the hunt or has completed one? A bit more tricky than the Typ II arrangement. Would love to hear from alles.. Danke!

I’ve contacted Rick Smith and others about this issue. The problem appears to be what Rick mentioned in the T-I video. There isn’t enough threads to screw on an adapter. I thought of converting a muzzle break into an adapter but the feedback I got said it would be cost prohibitive. That’s where I’m at now. Nobody has gotten back to me about other options as of yet.

Same here...got some help from Rick and I knew that duplicating the MB would be very pricey unless 100 minimums could be meant. I'm developing a insert and will follow up here with those results, Danke Sehr for your reply!

Wow! An insert is a great idea. I hope it works out. I look forward to hearing from you on it. Good luck!

Thanks! I'll post results after testing the first few I have made. Just waiting for my friend to return from his trip then rendezvous at his machine shop.

That's great!!
Thanks...I hope you get yours soon... I will say I did have a few dead primers and 2 FTE after about 70 rounds.. A dab of oil and a wipe down of the gas piston, net 80 or so flawless! I also ordered the deflector so zero brass marking issues on the receiver..

I ordered mine with the deflector also. I'm only 2 months into my wait, but hey, it has already been 2 months since I ordered.... time flies.

Glad to hear you are enjoying yours. What a unique firearm!

The wait is long but well worth the reward.. Kudos to Rick for making one of the most unique and unobtainable WW2 weapons a tangible reality..
Now que the Hedgerows! Ha Ha

I know it's not original to the Type E / I production variant but I think it is of the utmost importance to have the optional brass deflector, pay a few hundred more to protect the pristine finish of a rifle you just paid nearly $7,500 for. It's a no brainer to me, I opted for the brass deflector as well.

Nearly ready to test 2 proto inserts. Also found someone to take a stab at creating a copy of the MB as a BFA. It will include dimples simulating the perfs and two grooves painted red to make it obvious it's a BFA to ideally make it fool proof.

More soon..
