You are correct. At least 1/2 of my early rifles have cleaning marks around the disk.

Didn't you post recently your thoughts on the scratching commonly seen around 98K stock disks? I thought I had remembered one thread but can't seem to locate it. I believe it was of teh opinion that it coudl have been caused by cleaning by the actual soldiers verses a refinish of the stock. Hope you can help. Ron
