Do you have any connection to the city of Amberg, Germany? My Father brought back a NSDAP banner with a black panel in the upper left corner marked Amberg 1.
I also know of an engraved Fire Police sword named to the Director of Fire Police, Amberg.

Some time ago I was looking for a 1918 Sniper rifle. Although several have floated around the collectors market I was unable to find same. I did find a scope with rings Goerz 4X, with rifle number 3894 cc. Also located Goerz 4X Scope , Rifle number 8138 bb, without rings but excellant optically. Anyway I have since found a nice double claw rifle and have given up finding a nice 1918 style rifle to place my scope on. I would be more inclined to trade then sell outright. I am looking for a nice 4X90 ajack Hi turret scope for a late war M.O. 98. Aslo looking for the elavation turret for a 4X90 Ajack scope. I have a minty scope some bubba removed the elavation turret from . Could also use a BMJ hi Turret scope w/rings for a late M.O. 98. Beast Regards Dave Gill

I have a quesstion for you and i hope you can help me out. Did all 98 Gew sniper rifles when they were issued. Have the rifles serial number on them? I have see some with the serial number, some with the serial number and the suffix. And not long ago two with out the serial number and the suffix. Were these military scopes just addes to complete the sniper. And not correct? Or a field shope rebuild .
    Best Regards
