bcd 42 Kar98k

I'm looking at buying a K98k and I found this one here. The description says:

"Mauser K98k 8mm, manufactured bcd 42 (Gustloff Werke), all numbers match (including all small parts bolt), except stock and bands which are unnumbered, and topwood which is a mismatch. Stock however has the small case “C” on the wrist indicating Gustloff manufacture, and a small Eagle /H on the right flat. Barrel bands are later war type, rear stamped and welded, front milled no “H”. Has very rare find of an FN manufactured barrel, dated 1941. Bore very good. A very nice example of a mid-war manufactured K98, matching. Stock must have been a later replacement, possibly factory refurb during the war, as has the same code. A very nice example of a mid war non-RC Kar98k."

I would like opinions on the value of this gun. Since it has a mismatched barrel, and not original stock and rear band. Thanks for the help!

I think you should bid as much as you feel comfortable. It's a resurrected sporter more than likely, replaced stock and barrel bands. It's worth more than an RC ($250+) and less than a bolt mm only ($650), IMHO.

Gustloff (bcd) used parts from a large number of subcontrators including FN (code ch, WaA140). So your barrel may be original to the rifle. I have a bcd43 with an FN (ch 42) barrel.
