I think Luft. rifles saw less combat than their Army equivalents and survive in better condition.

Outstanding rifle, thanks for sharing. Could the bolt "S" be from MO? It looks like their early style S from 1934-35?

What a fabulous piece. The quality of the metal surface finish and that rich deep blue! Hard to believe it was a military rifle. Thanks for sharing.
 
Very nice rifle. Interesting that this Borsigwalde has the Weimar style left side receiver proofs while the 42 1938 I just posted, also a Luft, has the Nazi eagle proofs. I guess thats the difference between a "k" block and my "w" block.
 
Thanks for your kind comments.Do any of the experts here have an explanation for the Ss etc on the under belly of the bolt handle.
I have had dozens of K98S and never seen this before. [most radom pistols and early Steyr rifles have markings similar .]
I don"t see any 1938 243s on the picture reference,to compare it with.
